Other IBM FlashCore Module 2 FCM2 capacity options
The FCM2 family provides smaller 4.8 TB and 9.6 TB options and a larger 38.4 TB option. The service FRUs below come from IBM's control-enclosure replaceable-units table. The additional part numbers are independently identified in IBM's FCM release notes as using the 2_x firmware family.

Hardware compression, effective capacity and encryption
THe IBM AES7 19.2TB NVMe FlashCore Module FCM2 has 19.2 TB usable capacity and 43.98 TB effective capacity. Module capacity is measured before system RAID parity, rebuild areas, metadata and other array overhead. Effective capacity reflects data reduction and depends on the stored data. For example, six 19.2 TB modules provide 115.2 TB of aggregate module capacity before array overhead; twelve provide 230.4 TB. These figures are not application-usable capacity estimates. Use the actual RAID layout and measured workload compression when planning storage.
FCM2 performs inline compression in hardware within the module. This offloads that work from the storage controllers. Already compressed or encrypted data may offer little additional reduction. The effective-capacity figure should therefore guide planning rather than serve as a guaranteed amount of application space.
IBM FlashCore Modules also incorporate hardware encryption and flash-management functions. Confirm system encryption enablement, key management and any required licensing for the intended configuration. A module's encryption capability does not establish that the system has been configured for a particular security requirement.
IBM AES7 firmware identification and lifecycle
Administrators can view module part numbers and firmware through the IBM Storage Virtualize GUI under Pools, then Internal Storage, by enabling the Part Number and Firmware Level columns. Check the recommended drive microcode against the exact system and software release before installation.
