IBM FlashSystem 9100: 9150-AF8 9848-AF8 9846-AF8 9110-AF7 9848-AF7 9846-AF7

The IBM FlashSystem 9100 family includes the 9848-AF8 and 9846-AF8 IBM 9150-AF8 FlashSystem models and the 9848-AF7 and 9846-AF7 IBM 9110-AF7 FlashSystem 9110 models. All IBM 9150-AF8 and IBM 9110-AF7 FlashSystem models are NVMe Control Enclosures for Short Form Factor SFF drives, designed to support FlashCore Modules, industry-standard flash drives, NVMe storage-class memory drives and customers may choose to intermix the different class drives. The fastest of these drives are the IBM FlashCore Modules with integrate IBM MicroLatency technology, advanced flash management, provide maximum reliability and have performance-neutral hardware compression built-in and use encryption that is FIPS 140-2 complaint. IBM FlashSystem 9150-AF8 and 9110-AF7 systems also support a variety of industry-standard, self-encrypting NVMe flash drives for securing data a rest compliance requirement. All IBM 9848-AF8, 9846-AF8, 9848-AF7 and 9846-AF7 models support a maximum of 504 drives per system or 760 maximum drives using eight 9848-A9F and 9846-A9F LFF 3.5 Inch Expansion Enclosures. A maxium of 3,040 drives may be used when a IBM 9848-AF8, 9846-AF8, 9848-AF7 or 9846-AF7 is used in a four-way clustered system configuration.

IBM 9150-AF8 and 9110-AF7 FlashSystems are ideal for improving IBM i backup and recovery times, which can usually shrink a backup window down to under 2 minutes when used in conjunction with a FlashCopy or SnapShot software license. IBM FlashCopy and IBM SnapShot can make almost instant copies of an IBM i source partition without disrupting production and using minimal storage for various use cases: backups including Save21 full system saves, to feed a Data Warehouse for SQL or Analytics tool, to create secondary partition in a flash and keep target in synchronization with production, to create an anonymized partition for compliance requirements and to crate multiple copies of production data to allow quick recovery due to database corruption and security incidents caused by ransomware encryption attacks.
