(#ESA1) - PCIe2 RAID SAS Adapter Dual-port 6Gb

 

The PCIe2 RAID SAS Adapter Dual-port 6Gb is a high performance SSD controller using PCIe Gen2 technology. HDD are not supported. The adapter does not have write cache and thus pairing with another PCIe RAID SAS Adapter (#ESA1 or #ESA2) is optional. Pairing can provide controller redundancy and enhance performance. There are no batteries in the adapter to maintain.

 

The adapter provides two Mini-SAS HD (high density) connectors for the attachment of SSD located in the #5887 EXP24S or #5802/5803 12X PCIe I/O drawers. X, YO or AT SAS cables with HD connectors are used to attach to these drawers. A max of 18, 26 or 24 SSD can be controlled depending on the I/O drawers being used. A maximum of one drawer can be controlled. The #5802 12X PCIe I/O drawer has a max of 18. The #5803 PCIe I/O Drawer has a max of 26. The #5887 EXP24S Drawer has a max of 24. If controlling SSD in a #5802/5803 the adapter or at least one of an adapter pair must be located in that #5802/5803.

 

The IBM (#ESA1) - PCIe2 RAID SAS Adapter Dual-port 6Gb feature is supported on the following IBM iSeries & Power Systems: 8202-E4C, 8202-E4D, 8205-E6C, 8205-E6D, 8231-E2C, 8231-E2D, 8408-E8D, 9109-RMD, 9117-MMC, 9117-MMD, 9119-FHB, 9179-MHC, 9179-MHD

 

A single adapter provides RAID 0, RAID 5, RAID 6 and RAID 10 for AIX and Linux and VIOS. A pair of adapters (dual adapters) provide RAID 0, RAID 5, RAID 6 and RAID 10 for AIX and Linux and VIOS (not JBOD). The adapter provides RAID 5 and RAID 6 for IBM i. IBM i provides both OS mirroring and data spreading. AIX/Linux/VIOS provide OS mirroring (LVM).

 

Feature #ESA1 and #ESA2 are electrically identical and have the same CCIN of 57B4. ESA1 indicates a full high tail stock and ESA2 indicates a low profile tail stock.
