IBM FS7600 5075-A30

IBM FlashSystem 7600 FS7600 5075-A30

IBM FlashSystem 7600 FS7600 5075-A30 is an enterprise NVMe storage system for larger mixed workloads, transactional databases and consolidated applications. It provides up to 4.3 million 4K read-hit IOPS and 55 GB/s bandwidth in a 2U enclosure. The IBM FlashSystem 7600 FS7600 5075-A30 contorl enclosure system supports up to 32 NVMe flash devices and combines IBM FlashCore Module 5 technology with enterprise storage management and data protection. IBM publishes effective capacity of up to 7.2 PBe per enclosure, subject to data-reduction assumptions. IBM FlashSystem 7600 overview

FlashCore Module 5 and Drive Capacity

The FlashSystem 7600 supports these IBM FlashCore Module capacity options:

Module capacityNominal raw capacity
Small 6.6 TB
Medium 13.2 TB
Large 26.4 TB
Extra large 52.8 TB

The enclosure accommodates up to 32 modules. A full population of 52.8 TB modules totals 1,689.6 TB nominal raw capacity, calculated before RAID and system overhead.

Fibre Channel and Ethernet Connectivity

Optional connectionSpeedsHost protocols
Fibre Channel 32 or 64 Gb/s Fibre Channel and NVMe/FC
High-speed Ethernet 40 or 100 Gb/s iSCSI and NVMe/TCP
Ethernet 10 or 25 Gb/s iSCSI and NVMe/TCP

The enclosure supports up to 32 I/O ports. Available combinations depend on adapter selection, optics, cables and supported configuration.

Snapshots and FlashCopy Maximums

The following FS7600 limits apply to IBM Storage Virtualize 9.1.2.x:

FunctionMaximum
Snapshots per system 32,099
Thin-clone or clone volumes per system 16,049
Snapshot policies per system 128
Safeguarded policies per system 32
FlashCopy mappings per system 15,864
FlashCopy consistency groups 500
FlashCopy mappings per consistency group 512
FlashCopy targets per source 256

These are software ceilings. Retention also depends on volume configuration, available capacity, data change rate and applicable memory allowances.

Expansion and FlashSystem Grid Scalability

Capacity grows within the enclosure through its 32 drive slots. IBM lists no SAS expansion models for the 5075-A30. Additional systems can participate in a supported FlashSystem grid. IBM publishes these aggregate figures for 32 similarly configured FS7600 systems:

Grid specificationPublished aggregate maximum
Effective capacity 230 PBe
Read bandwidth 1,760 GB/s
I/O ports 1,024

These represent combined grid resources, not one enclosure’s performance or a single application’s throughput.

Cyber Resilience and Recovery Planning

IBM FlashSystem 7600 and FCM5 integrated threat detection, compression and resilient storage operations. These capabilities should form part of an application-specific recovery plan with tested restore procedures. Define snapshot retention, recovery points, recovery-time targets and access controls before selecting the final configuration.
