01DH181 IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapter
IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapter has two M.2 module slots for two IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 modules that improve system startup times and is ideal for housing the rootvg of VIOS partitions. IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapter has 01DH181 part number. The IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 module is mounted in one of the two M.2 module slots on the IBM EC59 PCIe3 NVMe carrier card. The IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 module has a 1 DWPD (Drive Write Per Day) rating, and when calculated over a 5 year period, approximately 1,095 TB of data can be written over the life of the drive but will vary based on the nature of the workload being written. The IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 module has 00LY537 part number and IBM 58CE CCIN, and is recommended to be used for boot support and non-intensive workloads.
The IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapter is available in refurbished or used condition, includes warranty and support. A maximum of two IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapter can be installed in an IBM Power9 system, and supports the following Operating Systems:
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service Pack 3 or later
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP with SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 12 Service
Pack 3 or later
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server
Ubuntu Linux Server
IBM Power AIX
IBM i OS400 is NOT supported
Note: If the IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapter is selected, you do not have to order disk units. If you do not attach a SAN to be the Load source for Boot or IBM EC59, then you must order at least one disk unit. If you do not order a HDD/SSD/SAN boot IBM 0837, then an IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapter with at least one of IBM ES14 must be used as the load source.
Each IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 module is a separate PCIe endpoint, which means that each IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 module can be assigned to a different LPAR or Virtual I/O Server (VIOS). At the operating system level, each IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 module appears to the operating system as an individual disk. For instance, in IBM Power AIX, the IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 module might appear as hdisk0. If two IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapters are configured, each with two IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 modules, it is possible to have the rootvg of the first VIOS mirrored to an IBM ES14 in each IBM EC59, and the second VIOS could then be mirrored to the other two modules, which provides excellent performance and resilience. Or, each IBM ES14 Mainstream 400GB SSD NVMe M.2 module could be assigned to a separate partition or VIOS server as a boot device.
IBM EC59 PCIe3 2x4 NVMe M.2 Internal Carrier Adapter can be installed in the following IBM Power9 Servers: 5105-22E, 9008-22L, 9009-22A, 9009-22G, 9009-41A, 9009-41G, 9009-42A, 9009-42G, 9040-MR9, 9080-M9S, 9223-22H, 9223-22S, 9223-42H, 9223-42S system
