The IBM TS4300 LTO Tape Library provides high speed backups for Ultrium LTO9, LTO8, LTO7 and LTO6 tape media, supports SAS and Fiber tape drives, including three half-high HH LTO tape drives or one full-high FH and one half-high HH LTO tape drive. The IBM TS4300 LTO Tape Library system 00VJ943 can be configured with up to 21 half-high LTO tape drives or a combination of 7 full-high and 7 half-high tape drives. The IBM TS4300 LTO Tape Library model 3555-L3A replaced the IBM TS3100 3573-L2U LTO Tape Library. The TS4300 IBM LTO Tape Library system has 3555-L3A model number and 00VJ943 part number, provides 18 TB native storage capacity or 48 TB compressed using LTO9 tape media, 12 TB native storage capacity or 30 TB compressed using LTO8 tape media, 6 TB native storage capacity or 15 TB compressed using LTO7 tape media and 2.5 TB native storage capacity or 6.25 TB compressed using LTO6 tape media. The IBM TS4300 LTO Tape Library can be expanded to support 21 Half-High LTO tape drives or 7 Full-High and up to 7 Half-High tape drives using six 3555-E3A TS4300 expansion modules for a maximum of 280 LTO tape media cartridges providing up to 8.4 PB storage capacity compressed or 3.36 PB native using LTO8, 4.2 PB compressed or 1.6 PB native LTO7 and 1.75 PB compressed or 700 TB native LTO6. The TS4300 IBM LTO Tape Library Model 3555-L3A replaced the IBM TS31003573-L2U LTO Tape Library.

Note: The full-high FH tape drives provide faster data transfer rates than half-high HH tape drives. For instance, 360 MBps is the maximum native data transfer rate of a FH LTO8, whereas 300 MBps is the maximum for HH LTO8. Both the HH and FH LTO7 tape drives have a 300 MBps maximum data transfer rate, and both the HH and FH LTO6 tape drives have a 160 MBps maximum data transfer rate. IBM LTO9 FH tape drives provide 400 MBps data transfer rates for uncompressed backups, and a whopping 900 MBps for the 12 Gb SAS Full Height drives and 700 MBps for Fiber Channel drives with 2.5:1 compression. IBM LTO9 HH tape drives have a 300 MBps maximum data transfer rate.
