IBM 578F 32Gb Dual-port PCIe Gen3 Fiber Channel Adapter is a high-performance 8x short form adapter based on the Broadcom LPe32000-series PCIe HBA. The IBM 578F 32Gb Fiber Channel has 01FT704 part numbeer and can have EN1A, EN1B, EL5U, and EL5V feature codes; EN1A and EL5U are for Full Height PCIe slots and EN1B and EL5V are for short, low profile PCIe slots. The IBM 578F 32Gb Fiber Channel adapter provides two ports for using SR optics, and each FC port provide up to 32Gb Fiber Channel throughput simultaneously. Each port on the IBM 578F provides single initiator capability over a fibre link or with NPIV, multiple initiator capability is provided. The IBM 578F 32Gb ports are SFP+ and include an optical SR transceiver, have LC type connectors and utilize shortwave laser optics that operate at link speeds of 8, 16, and 32Gbps that will automatically negotiate to the highest speed possible.
The IBM 578F 32 Gb/s Dual-port PCIe Gen3 Fiber Channel Adapter PCIe3 x8 2-port Fibre Channel Adapter can be used in either a x8 or x16 PCIe slot in the system. This adapter is a high performance adapter that is based on the Emulex LPe32000-series PCIe HBA. Each port has two LED indicators that are on the bracket next to each connector. These LEDs communicate boot status and give a visual indication of the operating state. The LEDs have five defined state; solid on, solid off, slow flash, fast flash, and steady flashing. The slow flash rate is 1 Hz. The fast blink is 4 Hz, and the flashing refers to an irregular on/off transition that reflects test progress. The operator must observe the LED sequence for several seconds to ensure that the operating state is correctly identified.
Note: Cables used affect performance. The IBM 578F 01FT704 requires multimode fibre optic cables with short-wave lasers that meet the following specifications:

Note: The IBM Power System cannot detect the length and type of cable. The link will auto-negotiate to the speed reported during negotiation by the Target. The user must manually set the maximum negotiation speed. If too high of speed is selected, bit errors may occur.
