IBM ESDT 00FX876 59FD 146GB 15k RPM SAS SFF-3 Disk Drive AIX Linux 00FX874

The IBM ESDT 146GB 15k RPM SAS SFF-3 Disk Drive for IBM Power AIX and Linux servers has a 2.5-inch Small Form Factor (SFF) Gen-3 carrier tray for SFF-3 SAS bays. The ESDT feature has 59FD CCIN and can have any of the following 00FX874 00FX876 49Y7432 00FX870 00FX867 as a part number. The IBM ESDT 59FD is formatted for 512 byte sectors, and can be reformatted to 528 byte sectors for 139 GB capacity. The ESDT is identical to the IBM ESDU 139GB 15k RPM SAS SFF-3 Disk Drive with 00FX874 part number, as well as the IBM ELDT 146GB 15k RPM SAS SFF-3 Disk Drive, and all have the same 59FD CCIN.

IBM ESDT 59FD 00FX876 OS Requirements:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
AIX 6.1 and 7.1 or later

The IBM ESDT 59FD 00FX876 cannot be installed in the IBM EXP24S SFF Gen2-bay Drawer because of physical difference of carrier/tray.

Note: IBM 4k drives cannot be reformatted to 5xx drives (or vice versa). IBM is transitioning away from manufacturing SAS Hard Disk Drives (HDD) and Solid State Drives (SSD) formatted with 512 and 528 byte sector (5xx), and instead will only be providing 4K byte sector drives. Although most AIX and Linux applications will not experience issues since data access to the SAS drives is via a file system, companies should confirm with their application provider to ensure compatibility with using SSD or HDD with 4K byte sectors. AIX and Linux applications that require direct access to the raw data on the SSD or HDD, may require 512 and 528 byte sector (5xx) sectors drives.
