IBM has also announced plans to expand the model 570 offering beyond a 4-way server later in 2004. By attaching up to four processor enclosures together over a flexible processor fabric, the model 570 can become as large as a 16-way server. This building block approach provides massive scalability and 5/8-way, 9/12-way, and 13/16-way offerings are planned.
