Dynamic LPAR Tuner (Optional) Continuously monitors your system?s resources and automatically moves resources (both batch and interactive CPW) from where they are needed least to where they are needed most, using a combination of an intelligent mathematical algorithm based on real time work load demands (not set intervals) and user defined rules and/or on a scheduled basis. One of the Dynamic LPAR Tuner?s distinguishing features is that it can move resources extremely fast (down to one optimization every ten seconds) which means it can move system resources many times per minute based on real time work load demands. Note: Most LPAR tuning tools provide tuning cycles based on a fixed interval basis (e.g. 2-5 minutes); this philosophy does not take into account your real time work load demands.
Rules can be simply applied based on partition importance, stability, and speed and/or scheduled by time of day and calendar day. The Dynamic LPAR Tuner also allows for each partition to have a maximum and minimum amount of CPW that can be shared. The Dynamic LPAR tuner can create detailed performance reports for understanding workload demands or tracking tuning behavior.
