The IBM 9406 AS/400e SXX servers with the dynamic 64-bit PowerPC AS microprocessor, coupled with a generous amount of main storage, disk capacity, client support, feature card slots, and communications lines, you have what you need to help you maximize your gains from client/server computing.
The IBM 9406 Model S10 has, depending upon the processor feature selected, 64MB minimum and 512MB maximum Main Storage, in addition to DASD Capacity of 4.19GB minimum and 175.4GB maximum.
The base configurations of these AS/400e servers offer performance and capabilities suited for many growing businesses. Among the components in the base system are:
- System processor available in several options for most models with different levels of performance and corresponding capacities of main storage
- 4.19GB 3 1/2-inch disk unit or optional 8.58GB or 17.54GB disk units
- Multi-Function I/O Processor provides support for disk storage, internal tape, CD-ROM, a system display console, and communication lines
- One workstation adapter
- Communications adapter for Electronic Customer Support (ECS) (attachment cable must be ordered.)
- Ethernet or Token-Ring LAN adapter may be included in the base system at no additional charge
- CD-ROM drive is included in AS/400 systems using PowerPC technology

Prior to Version 4, loading additional interactive work on a system resulted in a general system slowdown for both interactive and non-interactive work.
