#2729 is an IOA that provides SCSI attachment capability for external tape and optical devices. #2729 can attach one tape drive or one optical drive. Tape devices that require two ports of attachment to the iSeries require #2621.

Prerequisites:

In #503X Migration Tower I, a #2809 or #2824, and one high-speed PCI card slot that has side-band signal wiring.

In #5065/#5066 tower, a PCI SCSI slot under the #2824 or base IOP.

Maximums: One #2718/#2729 in the 503X Migration Tower I, two #2718/#2729 in the #5064/#9364 expansion unit, three #2718/#2729 per #5065 tower, and six #2718/#2729 per #5066 tower.
