The 3573 TS3100 Tape Library Model L2U is an external 2U stand-alone or rack-mountable unit that is designed for the heavy demands of backup tape storage. The TS3100 Tape Library can incorporate a single IBM LTO Ultrium 4 or Ultrium 3 Full-High Tape Drive or up to two IBM LTO Ultrium 4 or Ultrium 3 Half-High Tape Drives. The TS3100 Supports 24 cartridge slots, includes a standard one-cartridge I/O station, remote management unit, and bar code reader as base features. The TS3100 is sold under several express ship model codes as well. The express models are simply pre-configured by IBM. Midland can configure the any TS3100 to the same specs as a particular express model.

LTO Ultrium 4 Encryption (Optional)

Transparent Encryption for the TS3100 Tape Library, with SAS and Fibre Channel versions of the IBM LTO Ultrium 4 Tape Drive is provided in AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Sun Solaris, and Microsoft Windows 2003 operating system environments.
The installation of a Ultrium 4 Tape Drive with encryption may require code updates for System p and supported open systems device drivers or storage management software. An update of the open systems device drivers can be obtained via anonymous FTP from: ftp.software.ibm.com (Look under the directory storage/devdrvr)

Three modes of encryption management are supported:
- System Managed (available for AIX, Linux, Solaris, Windows)
- Library Managed (available for OS/400, i5/OS, AIX, Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, and Windows)
- Application Managed (IBM Tivoli Storage Manager)
The IBM Encryption Key Manager component for the Java platform is required for enabling System Managed and Library Managed Encryption. To receive the Encryption Key Manager to run on HP-UX, Sun Solaris, and Microsoft Windows, the IBM TotalStorage Productivity Center (TPC) Basic Edition (TPC-Basic Edition replaces TPC-Limited Edition), licensed program product 5608-B01 is required. TPC Basic Edition electronic availability via Passport Advantage and media availability via Passport Advantage and AAS will include the IBM Encryption Key Manager component for the Java platform to run on HP-UX, Sun Solaris, and Microsoft Windows. Note that TPC Basic Edition is a chargeable program product, whereas the previous TPC-Limited Edition was a no-charge offering. Several maintenance options are also available for ordering with the TPC Basic Edition.
