CoolSpools Spool Converter converts system i (AS/400, system i) spooled files to a variety of formats, including: PDF, Excel, XML, text, CSV (and other delimited formats such as TSV), HTML, RTF, TIFF

CoolSpools one of the only soluitons on the market that TRULY runs entirely on the system i (100% native, no other platform or devices like printer SD cards required) and does not need a PC to produce PDFs, Excel files, images, etc., although they can then be easily accessed from a PC if needed.

Note: products which do support AFP often do so by converting AFP output to a TIFF image and including that in the PDF that is generated. Splitting (more on splitting...) Split spooled files into multiple documents without changing your applications. For Batch documents (invoices, statements, etc.), CoolSpools can create a new PDF every time the invoice number or customer number changes, and then email each separate PDF to a different email address or addresses.

Converter - Convert your sales reports to Excel format, and put each region's section of the report into a different server directory. CoolSpools Spool Converter can identify the region code/name on the report and create a new spreadsheet every time it changes and then store it in the appropriate directory name based on the region.

Merging/combining PDFs and Excel files - Maybe you'd like to create a report or document pack containing a set of related documents from different spooled files. With CoolSpools Spool Converter you can append to an existing PDF when converting a spooled file to PDF. You can also merge/combined several PDFs with the MRGPDF command. The PDFs do not have to be CoolSpools-generated PDFs... Any PDF will work.

Remove unwanted lines or pages (more on removing unwanted content) in your spool files from output (PDF, Exce, CSV, HTML, etc), that can be defined by very simple or complex conditions.

Controlling file names and output paths (more on naming and filing...) and give your files a meaningful name by using attributes or a combination of attributes of the spooled file, or you can extract data (e.g. invoice number, customer name etc.) from inside the spooled file.

Include images (more on images...) with overlays or as an overlay (background forms, logos, etc). CoolSpools allows you to use scanned preprinted stationery as a background to your PDF. Secure PDFs (more on PDF Security...) with password-protectiong and encryption so only authorized people can open it. Restrict what users can do to the PDF (prevent from being modified, printed etc), with or without a password. You can also add digital signatures to authenticate PDFs as genuine and to guarantee they have not been tampered with since they were created.

Produce PDFs that conform to the ISO 19005 PDF/A document archiving standard (more on standards...). Both Level 1A and Level 1B of the PDF/A standard are supported.

CoolSpools Spool Converter allows user-written exit programs (more on Exit Programs...) to control aspects of its running and do things like override parameters at run time to determine file naming, output paths, passwords, email addresses etc. This puts you in total control of what CoolSpools does.
